Ignite Your Entrepreneurial Spirit

spark logoTCC's Spark initiative focuses on fueling passionate entrepreneurs with the network, skills, and expertise to grow successful businesses.

The Spark coursework is based on the nationally recognized Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (ASK) Business Institute standards, in association with the National Association of Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) initiative.

The course content develops strategic decision-making skills in all aspects of business that are needed to own and operate an establishment.

Curriculum

A.A. Degree with Focus on Prerequisites for FSU Business Administration: Entrepreneurship

For students with a specific interest in transferring into the Florida State University Business Administration Entrepreneurship major, we offer the following pre-requisite courses that you’ll need to ignite this track. The following courses must be completed with a C- or better before a student can be admitted to the FSU B.S. Program:

ACG 2071 (3) Introduction to Managerial Accounting
CGS 2100 (3) Microcomputer Applications for Business or CGS X518 (3) Spreadsheets for Business
ECO 2013 (3) Principles of Macroeconomics

MAC 2233 (3) Calculus for Business and Non-Physical Sciences
STA 2023 (3) Business Statistics

Overview

  • Taught in a classroom setting at Tallahassee Community College
  • Traditional for-credit coursework that counts toward your A.A. degree
  • Courses at TCC are offered as part of your A.A. Program Electives

Introduction to Entrepreneurship Course (ENT0001)

Students and community members looking to explore, start or grow a business can enroll in this non-credit class. Intro to Entrepreneurship Program is a comprehensive series of six, three-hour seminars featuring applied experiential exercises focused on rapid business optimization for new venture creation. Each seminar will be customized content to their respective student cohort needs. The program represents the state of the art in business and entrepreneurship development, through an engaging cohort presentation model targeting the development of the entrepreneurial mindset, ideation, and innovation.

  • Offered as a 6-week non-credit course, please email us for current Spring, Summer & Fall schedules.
  • Small class size – a maximum of 25 applicants will be selected for each class

ASK Credential Training

Earn industry credentials through the nationally recognized Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (ASK) Business Institute. ASK training offers flexible courses that can be taken in any order. Courses are taught in a classroom setting at TCC and are generally shorter compared to a traditional semester course.

Choose from any of the four ASK Credential options:

  2. Fundamental Marketing Concepts
  3. Concepts of Finance
  4. Concepts of Entrepreneurship & Management

Online Training

From skill-specific classes that cater towards writing a business plan or understanding QuickBooks, to industry-specific teachings, we offer a wide variety of online courses to get you started in your entrepreneur training. Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship Program

Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship ProgramThe Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship Program at TCC equips active duty service members and veterans with the skills to successfully open and operate their own businesses. Using the nationally recognized Lean Startup Method for entrepreneurship education, this program will be offered twice a year and will include mentorship and networking opportunities to help build a community for veterans interested in entrepreneurship.

Veterans Resources

Troops to Teachers Program - Troops to Teachers is designed to help to transition service members and veterans to begin new careers as K-12 school teachers.

 - TCC's Office of Veterans Affairs provides specialized services to help students navigate state and federal education benefit programs. The VA office also helps our students make the most out of the College’s many resources.

Gadsden Entrepreneurship

In an award from the Florida Department of Education, Tallahassee Community College received $100,000 that will be used to create the Gadsden Entrepreneurship Initiative.  The collaborating partners include the Gadsden County School District and the Figgers Foundation.   It is anticipated that the following goals will be met through the grant implementation.

  1. Certify 10 Gadsden County School District teachers in the area of entrepreneurship
  2. Launch or enhance two school-based enterprises 
  3. Develop a full-year entrepreneurship program for 2 cohorts of high school students
  4. Establish a business speaker series made up of local entrepreneurs from Gadsden County
  5. Host an inaugural start-up pitch competition
